One of our favourites and most enjoyable projects of 2022 was the high-end external fascia signage we were asked to create for the national jewellery chain Fraser Hart, for their shops in Plymouth, Bluewater Shopping Centre (Dartford, Kent), and Solihull.

Here is an overview of the challenges faced by the customer that prompted them to get in touch, and how our team overcame them to complete the project within the agreed time and budget.

Project Brief:

Manufacture and install new brand signage, including exterior illuminated fascia and illuminated text, internal graphics, and window bed display.

The Challenge:

All three shops had very different retail locations, so the challenge for our design team was to work with the Fraser Hart designers’ concept and apply this to each individual location while retaining the client’s recognisable brand identity.

The Fraser Hart design team already had several ideas for the signage – our job was to turn this design concept into reality. In particular, the fascia lattice work needed to be rendered in 3D and give the appearance of a quilted gold finish with rimless individual solid acrylic illuminated text.

How We Helped:

The gold finish was an obstacle we had to overcome due to the designer’s requirement that we should match an anodised finish on all surfaces. So, we sampled several different materials and paint finishes for the signage – but to no avail: the gold still presented us with the same problem! Eventually, we turn to a paint finish designed exclusively for the high-end car market, and this worked perfectly.

Outcome:

“They smashed it” – were the words of the Fraser Hart director we liaised with throughout the project, and we have to say, the Fraser Hart team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish!

By thinking outside the box about creative ways we could fulfil the customer’s brief to the letter and achieve the finish and appearance they required, we were able to deliver the project to the designer’s approval and the delight of the client.

We were pleased with how well our signage designs were received by Fraser Hart, and we are able to arrange the manufacturing schedule and installation to fit around their working hours, to avoid disruption to the business and their customers.
